two birds with one stone

This weekend welcomes the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur.
This is the time where we fast from sundown Friday evening until sundown Saturday.
We cleanse our bodies and minds of distractions so we can focus in temple all day!
As I have grown older I love these rituals as traditions. An excuse to experience something sacred with my loved ones, especially my grandparents.
Not only will I cleanse body, mind, and spirit.......I will also cleanse stomach, colon, and intestines!
Two birds with one stone!

This is also the Indian New Year!
Happy Diwali!
Diwali is also called the festival of lights, where people light their homes with oil lamps. It is a way to bless your home, your muladhara for the new year.

There are many energetic shifts happening at this time and whether you are honoring a specific tradition or not I wish you a light heart, a renewed sense of self, and open arms for this shift into the most amazing weather of the year!!

As a true Floridian I greatly look forward to this time of year. That crisp in the air, the smell of drying leaves, the shift from hot as shit to an enjoyable 75 degrees!! We aren't lucky enough to see these vibrant colors but we do get to wear sandals all year round!!
Bring it on!!

Have a fantastic weekend!!

RING THE BELLS THAT STILL CAN RING.
FORGET YOUR PERFECT OFFERING.
THERE IS A CRACK IN EVERYTHING.
THAT'S HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN.

-LEONARD COHEN

As the weather begins to change I feel a sense of cleansing, energetically.
Josh and I spent the weekend riding and it was so beautiful to have that quiet time. It was a chance for me to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

You can never really understand the feeling of freedom until you ride yourself.
You are forced to take it slow, be completely one with the experience, and just be.
I like it, I like it a lot!

With this new year or any "new year", I have set new and renewed intentions.
I am pretty good at remembering to bring my cloth shopping bags and I use biodegradable trash bags. I even re-use plastic bags when I have them as many times as I can. After getting Surfrider's newsletter this morning I know I need to do even more.

Read about it, maybe sign the pledge if you are drawn to, but most importantly start with 1 thing that you are going to change to help our Earth and the helpless animals that are affected by our trash.

Enjoy your Monday!!

reduce, reuse, RECYCLE

I am seemingly surrounded, literally, by the world of recycling. Although it may not be for the sole purpose of making the earth cleaner or decreasing our carbon footprint it does lend itself to that good feeling of doing something positive and making a difference.

I am a huge supporter of any company that chooses to do anything for our planet Earth and especially one that chooses to educate its consumers.

Everyone knows about Patagonia. They have been around forever and continue to support an active and conscious community.

I, for one, am completely guilty of having more than I need and even wanting more. This is something I am working on.

I have signed the pledge above to try and use what I have, repair when I can, and most importantly be mindful of what I acquire.

The past few days my family and I have been welcoming the Jewish New Year.
This is always a time of reflection and it seems this year has had the theme of health in our family.

My father is a warrior when it comes to this and we all received amazing news yesterday about his health.
He is on the right track and seeing the right doctors so things are looking better and better!

I can't wait for him to see the Naturopathic Doctor next week!!!!!

My wish and intention for this new year is to be a positive influence (not a nag!) when it comes to leading a healthful life.
I want a vibrant and beautiful family that will enjoy many many more holidays together.

I am blessed and honored to be a part of my whole family and are excited to see what this new year will bring!
