Herby Pate

Herby Nutty Sun Dried Tom Pate

This may be one of the best yet!
Anytime cashews are involved it tends to be a winner taste wise.....I don't use them as often as other nuts because of their fungal properties: Aflatoxins.

Once in a while won't hurt, unless you have a nut allergy.

So.......

Ingredients:

1/4 white or yellow onion
2 Tbsp Braggs Amino Acids
1 cup almonds soaked 8 hrs
1/2 cup cashews soaked 8 hrs
handful fresh herbs, I chose dill...I'm obsessed!
1/4 cup sundried tomatoes ( in oil or soak in warm water for 10 mins if dry)
juice of 1/2 lemon, you can always add more to taste

Soak the chopped onion in the braggs for 10 mins....use just enough Braggs to wet the onions....you can always add more for taste later.

Blend all ingredients and that is it.

So quick, easy, nutritious, and delightful on the tongue.

Enjoy this pate with celery, in a collard/lettuce wrap with veggies, or in a salad.

It's been a windy few days here in Florida.
It is beautiful to see the trees sway and the birds flutter with excitement!
Wishing you a fantastic end to your week.

boost immunity this season

Tis' the season......
to catch a cold and be in bed more than you'd like to be.......by yourself!

There are a few easy ways that we can fight those pesky colds.

PREVENTION

With some simple ingredients you can steep your own immune boosting elixir.

GINGER
- strong antimicrobial
- antioxidant
- helps eliminate congestion
- natural antibiotic x 2
- may kill cold viruses

The list goes on and on........

LEMON

- vitamin C
-antioxidant
- promotes alkalinity within the body which wards off disease

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

- created with apples that have a wide range of positive nutritional effects
- vinegar increases the efficiency of the immune system
- also great to drink for a sore throat

GREEN TEA

- contains EGCG which fights bacteria and prevents viruses from multiplying
- some recommend 4 cups per day

I like to steep a few chunks of ginger and lemon slices with the tea and add as much vinegar as you can handle!

or......

take a shot of ACV and enjoy the tea.

Wishing you a healthy season.

Finally.... a cool breeze.

Hello Autumn!

Last night was the first sign of the seasons change.
I walked into our apartment after work,
opened the doors,
and took an amazing nap with the breeze caressing the drapes.
Bliss.

It smells different and most definitely feels different than the hot ass summer we just experienced!

I love watching the movement of the trees as the wind blows and it seems to put a little more pep in everyone's step.

Along with this shift comes a whole new batch of produce.
It all comes back to food!!

Pumpkins, squash, pomegranates, figs, earthy and healthy super foods.

I can't wait to break open the Pom that is waiting for me at home.

The seeds are an easy add -on to any salad, grain, and/or drink.

How to eat a pomegranate:

1. cut off the crown and discard....or compost

2. score the outer rind without cutting all of the way through

3. soak in a bowl of cool water for 10 mins

4. peel off the rind and remove the seeds which will sink to the bottom

5. remove rind and skin and drain seeds to pat dry

The seeds have lots of antioxidants and fiber!

Have an awesome weekend and if nothing else.....
step outside.....
inhale....
exhale....
repeat!

xoxo
